Created in 2006 for an exhibition in Parma, in a window overlooking Via Cavour, the city's most central and busiest street. The piece is part of a series of twelve pieces of the same format and with a similar theme (portraits of my family members), making the overall installation twelve meters long, featuring faces painted using the same technique.
What interested me in these works was to push the painting technique to its limits. It consisted of an initial layer of acrylic, defining the backgrounds and contours. I then traced the contours with silicone. Finally, I used enamels, which by their nature tend to flake, merge, and blend (the silicone protection contained the lines, as I desired). I then applied oil strokes to bring the "free" work of the enamels back to a recognizable portrait. Finally, I worked with Uniposca enamel markers to highlight the tones of the individual colors.

"Southeast Boulevard," a title that references the famous Los Angeles street, Sunset Boulevard, is a large-format work-study.
