Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. The painter Attilio Molina was primarily dedicated to original landscape production. His views, inspired by the Novara countryside, are distinguished by their truly evocative lighting effects.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eAs we can see in this work, Attilio Molina's landscape work begins with sensory data. His is a minimalist realism that aims to represent the most intimate essence of things. Elements are thus reduced and the composition is constructed on stylized lines. Rather than attention to detail, a lyrical sense of contemplation of the countryside prevails, expressed in the formal style developed by this painter. We note, in particular, the calligraphic care with which the shrubs in the foreground are rendered, as well as the hatching, at once fine and textured, which gives the work's surface a rural texture. But above all, it is the lighting that gives a truly spiritual connotation to this view, expressed in a striking contrast between the darkened shadows in the foreground and the golden expanse in the background.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eAttilio Molina was a Novara painter born in 1916 and died in 1992. Along with other artists such as Stefano Gorla, the painter of \"old Novara,\" Molina was one of the founding members of the La Canonica Cultural Center in Novara.
