adriano-parisot-senza-titolo
Adriano Parisot - Untitled

The work draws on an Informal aesthetic language. The devastation wrought by World War II left a profound mark on Western civilization, which in the visual arts also resulted in an inability to communicate. For some artists, this challenge led to a complete rejection of any visual language, resulting in the birth of Informal Art. The various Informal movements are certainly connected to American Abstract Expressionism, especially with regard to the gestural component, but they go further in their rejection of any figurative element, even geometric. Their research focuses instead on the material from which their works are composed.

In this work, Adriano Parisot confirms his artistic language, based on an informal aesthetic, yet filtered through a personal reinterpretation. The work has two constitutive elements: first, the thick, textured brushstroke that becomes structure and generates the painting's main content with its instinctive movement. Then, the painter's gesture, in a sort of over-the-top Action Painting, allows a dense web of color to flow across the canvas, undoing the previously created structure and reconfiguring it. The strokes gather on the right edge of the work, generating an unstoppable sensation of movement.

Of French origin, Adriano Parisot was born in Turin in 1912. After attending the School of Fine Arts there, he became one of the leading figures in Turin's artistic and cultural life. In 1953, he created the magazine "I quattro soli," which promoted various abstract trends. From 1948 onwards, he participated in numerous exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale in 1948 and 1950. From his earliest works, his painting embraced a modern expression that sought to remain in touch with reality. In the 1950s, his work drew inspiration from constructivist abstraction, later evolving towards a more lyrical approach. Adriano Parisot passed away in 2004.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0909/7065/3058/files/ADRIANO-PARISOT-OST-30X42-DEL-62-NO-CERT-NO-TITOLO-RAPINI.jpg?v=1768473484
