alberto-bizzai-fiori
Alberto Bizzai - Flowers

Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.

Alberto Bizzai's style presents a perfect fusion of realism and a delicate, impressionistic rendering of sensory details. On the one hand, the artist precisely describes the floral arrangement in all its details with a strong sense of reality and authenticity. On the other, his refined painting technique allows him to convey a sense of immediacy to the work, thanks to rapid brushstrokes charged with atmospheric vibrations. Light thus reflects on the objects, but without interfering with the precise depiction of reality. The entire composition is thus characterized by a clear luminosity that is revealed, by contrast, in the play of shadows. The use of a palette of soft, delicate colors also serves this purpose.

Alberto Bizzai, Strasbourg (France) 1926 - Sale Marasino, 2004. He attended the Accademia Carrara, and for several years studied under Brescian artists Emilio Pasini and Giuseppe Ronchi, also applying himself to fresco painting. His simple nature, however, led him to a traditional veduta style, in which easily identifiable sentiments are combined with a clear attachment to the city's motifs, depicted in its alleys, squares, and surrounding hills, enlivened by figures adorned with colorful traditional garments. Houses, squares, and women are captured in a suffused atmosphere, yet one that reflects, as Domenico Purificato noted, a belief in artistic religion. Having won numerous awards in the city and beyond, Bizzai has also held a dozen solo exhibitions in various cities, from Bergamo to Siena, garnering the acclaim of renowned art writers.
