Byzantine art retains all its strongly archaic stylistic features, aimed at exalting the supernatural and divine nature of what is depicted. For this reason, the panel exhibits a marked anti-naturalism, still of medieval origin. The facial features are generalized, and the representation tends to be abstract. However, we can see that, despite the persistence of archaic Byzantine stylistic features, the artist opens his own language to a partial exploration of naturalism. The scene is not fixed and hieratic, as in traditional Russian icons, but presents a dynamic character. And, above all, the gold background is replaced by a landscape.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eThe artist who created this work is certainly linked to the tradition of Russian icon painting, whose stylistic features he still retains. However, he displays a certain openness to a more naturalistic representational style.
