In this work, the subject of the Madonna and Child is accompanied by a large number of saints.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eThe panel is an excellent example of Byzantine art, reflecting all its characteristics. Byzantine art retains all its strongly archaic stylistic features, aimed at exalting the supernatural and divine nature of what is depicted. For this reason, the panel exhibits a marked anti-naturalism, still reminiscent of the Middle Ages. The conception of space is non-rational, there are no regular proportions between the subjects, and the background is gilded. The Madonna and Child, in the central depiction, has a hieratic pose, a superhuman fixity. The facial features are generalized, and the gazes are lost in contemplation of the divine.
