Since the classical age, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. The artist is driven by the desire to investigate and, therefore, represent the body in all its aspects. In this work, Murer allows his expressionistic nature to prevail. Thus, the depiction becomes synthetic and, almost brutally, the figure is reduced to a few essential lines. The graphic line is extremely nervous and, with its broken progression, breaks down reality into different planes to further explore the subject.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n\u003cp\u003e Augusto Murer, born in Falcade in 1922 and died in Padua in 1985, was one of the most important Italian sculptors of the second half of the twentieth century. His national recognition came in 1953, following an exhibition in Milan that received the praise of critic Orio Vergani.
