However, when an artist's goal is to represent an object that resonates with phenomenal reality but is also charged with hidden and symbolic meaning, this boundary can become blurred. Symbolism and Expressionism are emblematic stylistic movements in their conceptual interpretation of reality, with an iconic rendering of images and a symbolic interpretation in the use of color.

Emilio Tadini's style is highly distinctive and recognizable. Through his pictorial language, he has created a surreal, fairytale-like or dreamlike dimension, populated by fantasy. This dimensional shift is applied formally, as in Chagall, borrowing various elements from Expressionism, Cubism, and Symbolism. Thus, the figures are synthesized in a two-dimensional space (Expressionism) and almost disintegrate, arranging themselves on different planes and following multiple points of view (Cubism). The color has anti-naturalistic overtones and follows spiritual values (Symbolism). Compared to the aforementioned Chagall, however, Tadini is more orthodox towards Cubism, displaying a decidedly geometric approach and a more accentuated mechanization of composition.

Emilio Tadini was born in Milan in 1927 and passed away in 2002.
