However, as we can see in this painting, which features a fairly recurring theme in this artist's work (with the mountainside in the background and the figures busy at work in the foreground), Rizzo's ability to synthesize goes even beyond Impressionism, reaching a level of abstraction, determined precisely by his cursive brushstroke, that borders on Expressionism.
