The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. The landscape of the Aeolian Islands is the primary subject in Geri Palamara's work. His native land is transfigured into a vision that combines a connection with the painter with a projection with cosmic implications.

Geri Palamara's artistic language has been defined as "Altrorealism," a vision of the places of her memory that begins with sensory data and transfigures them into a cosmic dimension. To achieve this, Palamara completely dematerializes the real and creates an infinite space, where sky and sea merge in an intense, solid blue with iridescent hues. In this context, natural objects appear as visions of memory, floating and light, composed of delicate white painterly gestures. Movement is emphasized by dynamic lines that the artist traces in infinite, timeless space.

Geri Palamara was born in Messina in 1939.
