He began painting at the age of fifteen, after a stint at the Institute of Graphic Arts in Bergamo. In 1983, Giovanni Testori, after accidentally seeing a reproduction of one of his paintings, visited him. This meeting sparked a relationship of mutual respect and friendship. The following year, Testori wrote an article about him on the third page of the Corriere della Sera and organized what can be considered his first solo exhibition in Milan.
