His extraordinary technique allows him to consistently achieve a completely naturalistic rendering. The subject is always meticulously crafted with meticulous attention to detail. However, in this Maternity, Visentin clearly seeks a more expressionist stylistic style, through a striking contrast in his different approaches to the material. While the more facial features of the subjects are treated with the sculptor's trademark naturalistic rendering, the entire mass of the group is left almost raw. The overall clothing and hair are treated with distinctly material connotations, making the surface extremely vibrant and alive. Thus, the more realistic parts, with their perfectly smooth surfaces, almost seem to emerge from the roughly sketched mass in a struggle for form over matter, clearly referencing Michelangelo's work and its contemporary interpretations by masters such as Rodin and Medardo Rosso.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eGianni Visentin was a Venetian sculptor born in Tra Vettore di Rosà in 1938 and who passed away in 2010. A stay in Paris between the mid-1960s and the late 1970s was crucial to his artistic development, allowing him to come into contact with avant-garde art circles and movements. In 1997, he founded the Arte Positiva movement, which found its home in his studio-museum in Carpanè, where many of the artist's works are collected.
