In these watercolors, the painter expresses an extremely synthetic technique, where even a single brushstroke can define a form with character and coherence. Despite this minimalist, subtractive vision of the lagoon landscape, Meloni nevertheless manages to remain in the most exquisite tradition of Venetian tonalism. Everything is determined by color, centered on a specific range, to reproduce a specific atmospheric situation in which the objects are coherently fused. It is the brushstrokes that construct the space and light that define the composition.\n\r \nGino Meloni, an artist born in Varese in 1905, devoted himself to both painting and sculpture. Trained at the Brera Academy, he initially focused on academic Lombard landscape painting. He later came under the influence of Cubism and Expressionism.
