Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eThe work seems to reflect Giuliana Consilvio's desire to create an expressionist landscape. As the title suggests, the arrangement of the trees is associated with the arches of a Gothic church. Reality is interpreted in an extremely synthetic manner, with a highly reduced approach, resulting in an almost abstract composition. Spatial depth is indicated only by the convergence of the trees. The brushstrokes delineate the forms in an instinctive, gestural manner. Color is used according to an emotional and spiritual interpretation, in a lyrical connection with reality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eGiuliana Consilvio, born in Milan in 1941, trained first at the Brera Academy, then continued her art studies at the Institute of Graphic Arts in Urbino. Despite her time in Urbino, her culture is closely tied to Lombardy, especially Milan, where she passionately embraced the dreams and myths of 1968 and where she draws inspiration for much of her work, which straddles the contradictions of the city and the rarefied atmosphere of the Lombard landscape.
