The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Giuseppe Cardillo was a master of watercolor and an interpreter and proponent of Sampierdarenese painting, as his work was always consistent with the veristic expressions typical of that school of painting. With this approach, the artist created a landscape painting of the highest caliber. Cardillo's world is rich with delicate vibrations that are not only atmospheric, but also emotional. In this way, objects come to life before the viewer's eyes. For Giuseppe Cardillo, the use of color, applied in light, transparent washes, is fundamental. Through this delicate touch, Giuseppe Cardillo manages to modulate light perfectly, describing space and ensuring tonal coherence in his works.

Giuseppe Cardillo lived and worked in Genoa, where he was born in 1927 and passed away in 2007. He trained at the Accademia Ligustica, where he studied portraiture under Alberto Helios Gagliardo. From 1949 onwards, he exhibited regularly at trade union and promotional exhibitions in Genoa. It is worth noting his participation in several important national exhibitions: the Suzzara Prize in 1965, Pittori a confronto (Pitters in Comparison) at the Galleria del Forziere in Ferrara in 1969, the 1st Genoa Art Biennale in 1975, the 2nd Provincial Art Exhibition at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa in 1979, and the Genoese Painters in Sestri exhibition at the Galleria Le Prigioni in 1981.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0909/7065/3058/files/GIANCARLO-BRUCCULERI-1-GIUSEPPE-CARDILLO.jpg?v=1768469971
