krumnau-senza-titolo
Krumnau - Untitled

The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," meaning to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images. Eveline Krumnau's research gravitates between the informal, the gestural, and the material, and in other works, like this one, she revisits a principle of abstraction grounded in formal geometric values.

Eveline Krumnau's style is grounded in color, texture, and pictorial gesture. Even in her compositions, even the most abstract, Krumnau always seems to maintain a certain sense of geometry and compositional balance. The artist seeks to somehow channel her creative flow by arranging her material with a certain rationality. This rationalist spirit emerges forcefully in the present work, dominated by the perfect shape of the sphere. This is combined with a sinuous flow of wavy lines to identify the dynamism and existential vibrations of the solid. The artist's perception is thus transfigured into movement by the cosmic repercussions of a perfect sphere.

Eveline Krumnau is an artist originally from Silesia, born in 1930. From her childhood, spent in Berlin, she felt a passion for art. During the war, having fled to the Carpathian Mountains, she was fascinated by a work featuring blue and yellow tones, which would remain a constant in her work. Upon returning to Berlin, she attended the Academy's School of Graphics and Drawing. After her father's death, she moved with her mother to Peru to live with her maternal uncle and aunt. This radical change in lifestyle, customs, and traditions would profoundly influence her artistic career. After marrying an Italian, she moved to Italy, where her artistic career would continue to develop.
