He studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he met Osvaldo Licini. After his military service (1915–1920), he frequented the studio of sculptor Ettore Ferrari in Rome and became interested in Futurism. He returned to Cesena, opened a ceramics workshop, then moved to Venice and finally taught decoration and ceramics in Fano. From 1930, he taught copperplate engraving at Urbino for 38 years. From 1928, he devoted himself to engraving, preferring etching and drypoint, with a style that evolved towards the graphic lyricism recognizable in the post-World War II period. He created approximately 800 engravings, inspired by Fattori, Morandi, and Carrà. In 1957, he founded the magazine Valbona.
