In his project "Via di Roma 136," launched in 2013, the artist develops a research that takes shape through the creation of imaginary apartment buildings, in which, behind each window, he stages moments of everyday life—real or imagined—enriched by cultural references linked to the city depicted. Numerous windows have given life to the apartment building over the years, all of which have been acquired by Italian and international collectors. The project concluded with the creation of piece number two thousand.

Barberini's research aims to exploit glass tesserae, using them as a means to explore humanity through irony, imagination, and narrative. His works often reflect on contemporary society, reworking the mosaic technique in a personal and original way. This work, part of a larger body of work comprising two thousand mosaics, narrates the lives of individuals, everyday life, simplicity, the unconscious juxtaposition of existences, and isolation in a crowd. To do so, the artist juxtaposes tiles of varying sizes; small fragments of still lifes and scenes of bustling life are arranged against a monochrome background, all seemingly isolated despite their proximity.

Luca Barberini is a Ravenna-based artist, born in 1981, who works in the field of contemporary mosaic. Born in Ravenna, a city that owes much of its fame to early Christian and Byzantine mosaics, he embraces this legacy, transforming it into a personal and original exploration. After training at the Gino Severini Art Institute, he honed his skills in the field and founded the Koko Mosaico studio with Arianna Gallo. Thanks to a constant dialogue between tradition and experimentation, he pushes the boundaries of mosaic technique towards new visual languages. His work is nourished by a personal and visionary imagination, in which the ancient material of mosaic is reinvented to express the present. Emblematic of his career is the work Folla, acquired by the Ravenna City Art Museum.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0909/7065/3058/files/b99bc628-b694-4cca-a948-e624b76ffaa6.jpg?v=1768492835
