manini-senza-titolo
Manini - Untitled

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

From an analysis of this work, we can understand Manini's conception of landscape painting. He maintains a connection with the description of sensory data, of what he sees and perceives through his senses, but everything is transfigured according to a rigorous compositional logic. Indeed, the artist reconstructs the sensory world not according to a naturalistic principle of imitation, but rather according to a tendentially hyperrealist spirit. Even the space itself is organized according to a rigorous division between sky and vegetation. Depth is lacking, and everything therefore appears static, in a sort of magical, metaphysical immobility. Consistently, even the representation of objects follows a tendentially hyperrealistic line that avoids any pictorial effect. The vegetation is meticulously depicted, leaf by leaf, thanks to an excellent photographic execution technique. The strong plasticity is in no way disrupted by the application of color, and the artist avoids any atmospheric effect, remaining consistent in his aesthetic choice. Thus the sky also appears as a compact field where only the action of light gives life to changing shades.

From an analysis of this work, we can see that Manini is an artist who practices traditional genres such as landscape, yet his interpretation is always highly original. Indeed, Manini's pictorial language is based on a rigorous geometric reconstruction of the world that transfigures everything into a kind of magical realism. Manini is an artist gifted with an excellent technique that allows him to develop his hyperrealist aesthetic.
