Manuela Franco's brutalism, however, is not confined to individual figures, but encompasses the entire work. The artist creates an entire degraded surface. Dirt is recreated by the artist by layering various pictorial gestures and chaotically mixing not only techniques but also formal media. From a young age, she devoted herself to drawing and writing with great passion and refined sensitivity. She attended the Technical Institute and the Art Institute in Lecce, but due to her restless and unstable condition, she decided to interrupt her studies. She moved to Milan in 1985 to study painting and art history. She attended Enrico Lui's figurative observatory and then joined his studio, collaborating with other artists. She combines painting and writing.
