This pair of works offers two splendid examples, one of his famous friars in a three-dimensional version and a woman with a bundle of twigs, a subject nonetheless tied to the rural world that characterizes all of this artist's work.\n\n Compared to the narrative vivacity of his paintings, Norberto's sculptures display a more pronounced formal exploration. Indeed, as we can see, the two sculptures are characterized by a highly synthesised style, reducing their volumes to the bare essentials. One senses the artist's desire to achieve a raw style, informed by an archaic and simple expressionism. The volumes are elementary within a rough-hewn, unfinished surface with a strong aesthetic impact.\n\r \nNorberto Proietti, generally known as Norberto, was an artist from Spello, born in 1927 and passed away in 2009. Self-taught, guided by various influences learned during his stays in Rome and Bergamo and by his love for his homeland of Umbria, he first opened a tailoring shop in Spello. Dissatisfied with his work, from 1961 onwards he began to devote himself exclusively to painting, immediately achieving great critical and public acclaim. He held numerous exhibitions, both abroad and in various editions of the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto.
