As a young man, he frequented the poet Salvatore Ruju and trained in the studio of Giuseppe Biasi. After returning from World War II, he moved to Rome, where he attended restoration courses between 1946 and 1950. Meanwhile, he supported himself by working as an occasional actor at the Cinecittà studios. Returning to Sassari, he earned his artistic diploma in 1957 and carried out several important restorations.
