pascal-senza-titolo
Pascal - Untitled

The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.

As we can see from this work, Pascal's abstraction begins with the human figure, transfiguring it through a process of geometric reconstruction and seriality. For this reason, his pictorial production, rather than harking back to the perceptual demands of the early abstract avant-garde, takes on an existential tone that underlies deeper reflections. In some ways, Pascal's figures remind us of the depersonalization of Renato Mambor's cold silhouettes or the repetitiveness of Mario Ceroli's outlines. However, in Pascal we do not discern the former's vibrant pop streak, nor the latter's affiliation with Arte Povera: rather, he pursues his own original path of rationalist and balanced compositions that bring him back into the fold of abstraction.

As we can see from the analysis of this work, the artist Pascal stands out for his essentially abstract production, which, starting from the human figure, suggests profound existential reflections.
