Byzantine art retains all its strongly archaic stylistic features, aimed at exalting the supernatural and divine nature of what is depicted. For this reason, the panel exhibits a marked anti-naturalism, still reminiscent of the Middle Ages. The conception of space is non-rational; in the perfectly central depiction, the subject occupies a hieratic position and a superhuman fixity. The facial features are generalized, and the gaze is lost in contemplation of the divine. She graduated with a degree in painting in 1974 from the Nicolae Grigorescu Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest, where she studied under the renowned painter Traian Bradean.
