pietro-danti-senza-titolo-2
Piero Danti - Untitled

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. Much of Piero Danti's pictorial production focuses on landscape. His most recurring subjects are evocative images of the Tuscan countryside.

Piero Danti's work is distinguished by landscape painting, in which he pursues distinctive views, imbued with a distinctive lyricism. Hence his penchant for picturesque views and evocative framing. Formally, this translates into an impressionistic, highly animated and dynamic style that ensures freshness and immediacy of execution. His brushstrokes are therefore characterized by a remarkably cursive touch, made up of sudden flashes, effectively capturing the vibrations of light on objects. This is particularly evident in the rendering of the grassy lawns, the mountains in the background, and the play of light that enlivens the atmosphere. The entire composition is imbued with a calm sentimentality and a freshness deriving from the artist's technical prowess.

Piero Danti was born in Florence in 1910, the third of a family of four children. He began his experience with brushes and paints in his father Gino's "Bottega d'Arte." His first paintings date back to the 1930s, under the guidance of his friend and teacher Alberto Zardo. His sketches (a post-Macchiaiolo genre) are recognized by their richly colored brushstrokes and bold application, resulting in strong, decisive works devoid of unnecessary detail. His seascapes of Quercianella and the effects of snowy landscapes are particularly effective. His works are created on site, "en plein air," striving to immortalize that magical moment on the canvas, the fruit of a highly personal approach. Together with his father Gino, he contributed to the creation of the frescoes of the saints that form the choir of the vault of Camaldoli". He continued to hold the brushes in his hand with mastery until the age of 99, that is, until 2009, the date of his death.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0909/7065/3058/files/IMG_0311_a74a7f94-dad3-4c48-85bb-736ef733cab0.jpg?v=1768471575
