Squillantini's language in this lithograph has strong connections to the German New Objectivity movement. The same simplified and childish interpretation of realism based on a marked plasticity is evident, although Squillantini's forms have a more material consistency. We find the same cynical nature of painters like George Grosz and Otto Dix in lashing out at their own society with lucid irony.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eRemo Squillantini was a painter born in Stia in 1920 and died in Florence in 1996. He began his career as an illustrator, working for both Italian and international publishers. He later devoted himself exclusively to painting, creating a series of ironic and grotesque characters aimed at scathingly satirizing contemporary society.
