rosetta-acerbi-senza-titolo
ROSETTA ACERBI - Untitled

Flowers as an independent subject began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world, as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers were depicted not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also became a way of interpreting reality.

Artist Rosetta Acerbi's style often takes the form, as in this work, of a strongly pictorial minimalism. Objects are reduced to a pared-down form, as if the painter were extracting their purest essence from their sensory details. Thus, the flowers are transformed by an extremely delicate painterly gesture, concentrating them in a polychrome fusion at the center of the painting. The artist then emphasizes the elegant balance of colors, which fits perfectly into the blue space of the work. The entire composition, in its dynamic composition, is vibrant with vitality and light.

Rosetta Acerbi was born in Venice in 1933.
