Indeed, here the form is virtually disintegrated in favor of a more expressive language, reminiscent of a post-Impressionist style. Formally, the work employs an almost crude approach, synthesizing the subjects with a few dense touches of textured color. He trained at the Accademia Albertina and, throughout his career, specialized in portraits, landscapes, and genre scenes inspired by the Middle East. Success came when he presented his \"Portrait of a Man\" at the Turin Exhibition of 1884, then, in 1887, he exhibited five more works in Venice. He was deeply connected to the Eastern world and lived in Egypt from 1891 to 1914.
