The landscape is rendered through a truly extreme process of synthesis. The elements of the view are created with a few brushstrokes, reducing everything to the essential. But what the landscape painting loses in naturalistic rendering of sensory details, it gains enormously in expressiveness. Indeed, the use of a palette knife technique that spreads a highly textured color infuses the work with an expressive force that derives from a direct connection between the artist's perception and her pictorial gesture.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eVelia Simoncini was born in Porto Recanati in 1911 and passed away in 2003. Demonstrating a passion for art from an early age, she was self-taught. Only as an adult did she manage to attend painting schools in Macerata. She exhibited extensively in Italy and abroad, in cities such as Venice, Monte Carlo, Rome, Urbino, Washington, Paris, and Brera. She received important awards, including medals and gold plaques. She also received the Venice Biennale Trophy and the international Golden Lion award.
