Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Cavalieri's pictorial research is a study of the perception of reality as a juxtaposition of wavy, sinuous forms and colors. To achieve this, whether his subjects are inspired by nature or the human figure, Cavalieri employs macroscopic enlargements that eliminate any contingent detail. In this way, the subject is perceived as a collection of undulating forms in tight, color-balanced harmony. Formally, his style is even more distinctive. Indeed, although Cavalieri tends toward a flat, compact application of color, the surface of his works is always composed of a living, vibrant material, sometimes in relief.
A. Cavalieri is an artist distinguished by his original pictorial production. He engages in a perceptual game in which reality is transfigured as a set of undulating forms, where colors interact in perfect compositional balance.
