A. D'Alessio - Landscape

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

For the painter A. D'Alessio, naturalistic rendering is a fundamental component of his artistic practice. For this reason, his artistic process is essentially based on a faithful recording of sensory data which, along with an accurate reproduction of the subject from life, also draws on a vigorous lyrical sensibility that leads him to imbue his views with luminous and atmospheric vibrations. Indeed, although, formally, D'Alessio's language remains essentially figurative, his touch is nevertheless extremely painterly, aimed at ensuring freshness and immediacy of execution, in accordance with the impressionistic principles of plein air painting. Furthermore, D'Alessio's palette is composed of a brilliant range of colors, designed to capture all the refractions of light, especially those emanating from the body of water.
