A. Giordano - Landscape

We are faced with a rural landscape. It depicts a central stream and a nearly symmetrical painting, along which are trees and next to which, in the background, stands a group of farmhouses. As in his other paintings, Giordano engages in the analysis of landscape views to demonstrate his skill in atmospheric rendering. Often, his scenes depict a single farmhouse nestled within a vista, and this is precisely what happens here.

A. Giordano's painting is distinguished by his fluid, liquid brushwork. He doesn't need to render his subject in detail, but manages to create a whole with a few expertly applied touches. Here too, we can admire how lightly and easily he applies brushstrokes without second thoughts, a testament to his technical quality and pictorial experience.

For us, A. Giordano remains an anonymous twentieth-century artist. Indeed, we can assume he was active in the second half of the century. His works are offered by various galleries, but to date, no one has been able to identify him. Some believe his name is Antonio Giordano, but in fact, there's no concrete evidence for this name either. However, based on the various paintings bearing the same signature, we can say his primary subject matter is landscapes. He creates them with a fluid, rapid brushstroke, then accentuates the whole with subtle yet strategic highlights to give the painting dimension.
