Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Artist Adele Navarino stands out for her landscape painting, in which she seeks distinctive views, imbued with a distinctive lyricism. Hence her penchant for picturesque views and evocative framing. Formally, this translates into a highly animated and dynamic style that ensures freshness and immediacy of execution. Her brushstrokes are therefore characterized by a remarkably cursive touch, made up of sudden flickers that effectively capture the vibrations of light on objects. This is particularly evident in the rendering of the body of water and the vegetation. The entire composition is imbued with a calm realism and a freshness deriving from the artist's technical prowess.
Adele Navarino was born in Pimentel (Ca) in 1943 to Carmine and Antonietta Pisu, herself a talented painter and sculptor. At ten years old, she became a student of Carlo Contini at the Oristano Professional Training School, directed by the great Abruzzo ceramist Vincenzo Urbani. From her earliest years, she developed a passion for sculpture and painting. She moved to Chieti and, in 1963, at the tender age of twenty, began an intense artistic and exhibition career, which spread from Chieti and Sardinia to numerous solo and group exhibitions in Lazio and Veneto.
In the 1980s, he returned to the city and settled permanently in Oristano, but his works were included in important exhibitions held abroad, in Mexico City, Stockholm, Seoul, and Paris. In 1990, he exhibited some of his paintings at the centenary celebrations for Vincent Van Gogh's death in Amsterdam, and many of his works became part of public and private collections in France, Belgium, Germany, Australia, Venezuela, and Lebanon.
