Description of the work
Description of the work
The human figure has always been at the center of artistic research. Since the classical age, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. The representation of the female figure is an expression of this aspiration, pervasive across all eras and stylistic trends. Indeed, in addition to the naturalistic interpretations of the Renaissance and various classicisms, which aimed for a truthful and detailed representation of the human body, the female figure has also been a central figure in the new aesthetic concepts brought about by the historical avant-garde, such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism.
Painter Anna Penta's style is consistently consistent throughout her work. It is fundamentally based on classical figuration, rooted in the detailed portrayal of the subject and the precise contextualization of its space. However, the element that defines Anna Penta's artistic practice and makes it unique and original is her exuberant pictorialism. The application of color is constantly moving, dynamic, in a constant search for chromatic and luminous vibrations. Through this pictorial application, even the profoundly realistic image is transfigured into a highly lyrical expression. This artistic approach also permeates the painter's palette, based on bright, luminous hues.
Anna Penta was born in Rome, where she lives and works. She discovered her passion for creativity through drawing even before learning to write. She earned a Diploma in Graphic Arts in 1973. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, at the Scuola Libera del Nudo, under the guidance of Giulio Turcato, also taking an engraving course. Her exhibitions include: 2000 Studio d'Arte "Il Ponte" (Rome); "Festival dei Due Mondi" (Spoleto), "Galerie Le Carre d'Or" (Paris); Fiera di Roma; Galleria il Vantaggio (Rome); Artists of the Third Millennium (Fiano Romano Castello Ducale); and various temporary exhibitions.
