Description of the work
Description of the work
Themes related to astronomy or science fiction in art can, in many cases, be traced back to the typical aesthetics of Surrealist art, where the existence of other worlds or parallel dimensions can be connected to our subconscious. However, when science fiction becomes a celebration of technology, its origins inevitably lie in Futurism, which made the celebration of progress one of its central themes. Coinciding with the development of the science fiction genre in cinema, around the 1960s, some painters also began to explore this theme in art, such as the celebrated Chesley Bonestell.
Adam Burczyc's works are the fruit of a truly boundless creativity in the creation of parallel universes, where a fascination with astronomy and the perfection of the planets is combined with an extraordinary fantasy streak, the painter's most distinctive trait. In his works, the spherical motif of the stars suspended in the sky is used to house small elves' dwellings. Exquisitely consistent with the fantasy genre, Adam Burczyc's works take on a figurative language rich in detail and characterized by a vibrant palette. His style, therefore, resembles that of an illustrator, although a great painterly quality in the application of color remains constant.
Adam Burczyc was born in 1982 in Raciborz, Poland, where he still lives and works today. His painting adventures began in the studio of Dr. Kazimierz Fraczka, where he took lessons before starting his studies. He graduated from a higher vocational school with a diploma under the direction of Professor Aleksander Ostrowski in 2007. His inspiration comes from nature and music, but often reaches into the imagination, which is evident in his works. He paints using oil techniques ranging from abstraction to the surreal, with themes primarily linked to a fantasy aesthetic.
