Description of the work
Description of the work
Adele Navarino was born in Pimentel (Ca) in 1943 to Carmine and Antonietta Pisu, also a talented painter and sculptor, who, despite her venerable age, continues to produce artistic masterpieces. She moved to Oristano at a very young age and, after learning the rudiments of art from her mother, began painting at a very young age. At the age of ten, she became a student of Carlo Contini at the Professional Training School in Oristano, directed by the great Abruzzo ceramist Vincenzo Urbani. From her earliest years, she developed a passion for sculpture and painting. She moved to Chieti and, in 1963, at the tender age of twenty, began an intense artistic and exhibition activity that spread from Chieti and Sardinia, with numerous solo and group exhibitions in Lazio and Veneto. In the 1980s, he returned to the city and settled permanently in Oristano, but his works participated in important exhibitions held beyond the national borders in Mexico City, Stockholm, Seoul and Paris. In 1990, he exhibited some of his paintings at the centenary celebrations for Vincent Van Gogh's death in Amsterdam, and many of his works became part of public and private collections in France, Belgium, Germany, Australia, Venezuela, and Lebanon. The themes of her paintings draw on the cultural and natural heritage of our land: "Sartiglie," "Ardie," landscapes, and floral compositions, alongside religious and traditional subjects. Part of her work is tinged with surrealist and visionary influences, including her "Damned" works. Orlando Vicci writes of her: "Instinctive and extremely rapid in execution, she manages to convey onto the canvas, with rigorous and calibrated formal rhythms, a faithful image of the subject. Through a concentrated, mysterious revelatory force, she manages to lay bare even the most hidden aspects of the psyche." An accomplished restorer, in recent years she has also dedicated herself to the production of artistic glass objects, producing exquisite Tiffany-style pieces. In 2012, in the premises of the Foro Boario in Oristano, made available to Unitre, she organized the first collective exhibition of visual arts, "Santa Croce nell'arte," featuring a rich selection of paintings and sculptures by the area's finest artists, with works ranging from figurative to contemporary, which was a resounding success.
