Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Adriano Boccaletti's artistic language displays a profound post-impressionist influence. The subject is depicted in a manner that is simultaneously rational and instinctive. Indeed, the composition is developed through a harmonious distribution of chromatic zones on different planes. Furthermore, the application of color is dense and material.
Adriano Boccaletti was born in 1937 in Novi di Modena, where he lived and worked throughout his life. In 1964, he ran the "I Gradini" gallery in Carpi, aiming to introduce the public to the artistic movement of the time, which included emerging young artists such as Lanfranco, Margonari, Merighi, Roveri, and Zapparoli. Painting, however, remained his primary activity, and he participated in impromptu exhibitions and national exhibitions, as well as drawing and photography competitions. In 1978, at the invitation of a furniture tile factory, he explored industrial ceramics. An internship at the International Ceramics Center in Kecskemét, Hungary, allowed him to acquire new technical knowledge, knowledge that was further enriched during three subsequent visits to the same city, at the International Symposium of Enamels on Metal. During his forty-year career, he held over 80 solo exhibitions, the last of which was in Novi di Modena in 2001, during which the monograph "Adriano Boccaletti pittore" edited by Marzio Dall'Acqua was presented. He died in March 2002.
