Description of the work
Description of the work
The work belongs to a series of paintings that the artist made in the 80s and 90s, when
for a study-work trip (1980) he arrives in New York. On this occasion he exhibits at the
Leonarda di Mauro gallery organized by the cultural institution La Sponda and sponsored by
Lazio Region - Department of Culture and the Bache Bank.
Struck by the grandeur and immensity of the city, he devoted himself mainly to
representation of skyscrapers, sometimes colored or backlit.
The chromatic spectrum of this painting is played on an alternation of cold tones that
suggest the metallic surface of skyscrapers arranged in a serial order
The straw yellow of the sky mixes with the pink of the morning dawn that is about to break.
awaken the city. The two towers on the left emerge from the edge of the painting indicating
a sense of continuity and infinity
The white sphere at the top is an element that the artist often inserts in his paintings
giving the whole work a new expression and language, that is,
of cosmic energy.
David understands that in this big city, man is "absent" hiding inside those
skyscrapers working in front of computers and living in a kind of alienation, out of the
reality that surrounds him, while everything flows in speed and consumption.
