Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.
The technique of Foggia-born painter Alberto Amorico is extremely refined. His meticulous analysis of the subject allows him to achieve a completely naturalistic rendering. In this painting, the artist, inspired by the floral motif, uses a strongly Impressionist approach, seeking out every single chromatic and luminous vibration. This gives the subject a great immediacy and freshness. The role of color is fundamental in this exploration, with its vibrant hues constructing the subject almost without the aid of drawing.
Alberto Amorico was a painter originally from Foggia, where he was born in 1906. From a very young age, he demonstrated a talent for painting. From 1925 onwards, he held several solo exhibitions at the Sala Comunale in Foggia. Other exhibitions later featured him at the Galleria Bianchi in Gallarate, Galleria Bolzani in Milan, Galleria Barcaccia in Rome, and Galleria Prevosti in Varese. Primarily a painter of landscapes, still lifes, and portraits, his works are held in museums, art galleries, and private collections in Italy and abroad. He passed away in Rho in 1986.
