Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. A student and follower of Carlo Carrà, Alberto Sanvitale (Rome 1927 - Sanremo 1999) moved to the Ligurian Riviera in 1966. His painterly colorism and the powerful decorative power of his works stem from a genuine inspiration that has led to him being referred to as the Italian Matisse.
