Description of the work
Description of the work
The iconography of motherhood is closely linked to the subject of the Madonna and Child. It is probably one of the most popular iconographies in the history of both Western and Eastern art. The Madonna and Child appears since the dawn of medieval painting and remained a constant subject as long as religious themes dominated artistic production (that is, until the 19th century, when themes inspired by everyday life began to be introduced). It is quite common for contemporary artists to treat the iconography of motherhood without directly linking it to the Christian religion, as in this work by Aldo Pecoraro.

As we can see from an analysis of this work, the style of painter Aldo Pecoraro is nourished by influences that hark back to an archaic and primordial conception of artistic creation. His language draws inspiration from the art of African civilizations, reviving the expressiveness of color and the powerful synthesis of form. This is then contextualized by a modern sensibility according to a complex conception of the pictorial work. This conception involves the Cubist decomposition of a non-unique space, constructed on multiple directives and perspective lines. All of this converges in the formal aspect of the work, in which the essential and primordial forms are enhanced by the black line that breaks down the space. This creates fields ready to accommodate the chromatic zones, which in turn compose a harmonious balance of warm and brown hues.
The artist Aldo Pecoraro stands out for his refined pictorial production in which he combines a careful study of Cubism with influences from the art of ancient African civilizations.
