Aldo Riso - Rome

Aldo Riso was born in 1928 in Santa Maria di Leuca, in the Province of Lecce. He earned a degree in Law, but at the same time, from a very young age, he delved into painting, primarily watercolors. Deeply attached to his homeland, Apulia is his favorite subject, portraying numerous views of both his region and Southern Italy. His public debut came in 1956 with his first exhibition, which launched a long career that allowed him to exhibit his art not only in Italy but also in Cologne, Berlin, Vienna, Paris, Philadelphia, Belgrade, Athens, Barcelona, ​​Madrid, Montreal, Toronto, New York, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Asuncion, and South Africa. His work is characterized by clear, intense, and radiant painting, where landscapes are bathed in the light that only watercolor can render in its characteristic transparency, while also embracing oil painting and graphic art. Houses, boats, and fishermen breathe a rarefied air, suspended beneath relentless skies and crystalline seas. Aldo Riso died in Rome in 2008.
