Alessandra Pagliuca - Unsuspected suicide

The iconography of this painting certainly has allegorical meanings and can be defined, in some ways, as symbolist precisely because of its allusion to underlying meanings. It is a type of subject that can be traced back to the artistic language of late nineteenth-century painters such as Moreau, Bocklin, or Puvis des Chavannes, who, despite using a substantially figurative language, developed intellectually complex iconographies, full of symbolic and allegorical references.

This work demonstrates a highly distinctive compositional style by artist Alessandra Pagliuca. This approach combines her skill as a portraitist with a symbolic contextualization, drawing on documents, photographs, and newspaper clippings that provide the key to understanding the work. Alessandra Pagliuca was born in 1988 in Chivasso, but has lived and worked in Lucca since 2017. Her artistic career began in 2012, when she began exhibiting her works, which explore hyperrealism and human anatomy. She has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. In 2014, she won the competition organized by Elio Fiorucci. Her many commissions include those for Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks Italia. In 2015, she opened her own studio in Chivasso, the Artemisia Art Gallery.
