Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.
In this 1970s work by Alessandro Ghidini, a minimalist aesthetic is echoed, and the artist seems to draw particular inspiration from the work of American artist Frank Stella. Indeed, we note a desire to stimulate perception with an ostentatious monochrome. The painting's surface is divided into areas of solid color. The composition follows a sharp, composite line, also hinting at an illusionistic effect of plasticity.
Alessandro Ghidini is a painter born in Bergamo in 1930. His artistic training has always focused on experimenting with new aesthetic languages. One subject he has particularly focused on is strings, which he has developed in various interpretations, including serially.
