Description of the work
Description of the work
We are faced with a landscape. The artist, mainly devoted to the depiction of views and battles, here shows us a village located high up on a Hill. The atmosphere, due to the choice of colors, is very dark and conveys a certain melancholy. Indeed, we know that painters use landscapes to give their own poetic interpretation of reality, and this is precisely what distinguishes Nannoni: his lyrical, yet dramatic, vision of reality.
In this painting, Nannoni returns to the monochrome that so characterizes his landscapes. He creates a harmonious composition divided into various sections. While the lower section is defined by a very compact and monochromatic surface, the upper section is crowded with the various houses depicted. As often happens in his paintings, the brushstrokes become concise and essential when they explore the objects depicted.
Alfredo Nannoni was born in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa in 1945. His works are held in important collections both in Italy and abroad. He has exhibited his paintings in numerous shows. Nannoni specializes in battle scenes, which he always interprets with a highly personal style that elegantly and dynamically highlights the drama of wartime events.
