Description of the work
Description of the work
The work draws on an Informal aesthetic language. The devastation wrought by World War II left a profound mark on Western civilization, which in the visual arts also resulted in an inability to communicate. For some artists, this challenge led to a complete rejection of any visual language, resulting in the birth of Informal Art. The various Informal movements are certainly connected to American Abstract Expressionism, especially with regard to the gestural component, but they go further in their rejection of any figurative element, even geometric. Their research focuses instead on the material from which their works are composed.
Artist Alina Didot's informal art develops through perceptual exercises and a strong gestural component. The artist begins by acquiring sensory data and reworks it.
in her very personal feeling. And so her vision of the world definitively loses all contact with phenomenal reality, translating into a pure transposition of pictorial/chromatic matter. In effect, Alina Didot wants to capture the immediacy of reality, but this leads her to completely disintegrate the form and translate her perception directly through a decisive gesture. The canvas, in fact, is torn, tied, or burned, to introduce into the work all the accidentality and concreteness of reality.
Alina Didot is an artist known internationally for the important museum and institutional exhibitions in which she has participated, and her works are now found in important public foundations, national and international private collections.
