Allegory Goddess Italy

The canvas depicts the allegory of the Fatherland “Italy”.

A harsh criticism of today's times, where evil is deliberately confused with good.

Our homeland is, and will forever remain, a noble seal, which, by studying its history, clearly shows how to rise again and return to the greatness with which we were covered. It is surrounded by brush and chisel, which indicates the Art with which Italy is full,

The stiletto, the medallion with a depiction of the Wolf and one of her legionaries (Rome and its heritage) recall the fair battle.

Then we find a helmet, a musket, covered by its pennants (which indicates these years when Italy is in turmoil, full of sleep, where it is missing the roll call of a free homeland, where it is no longer seated as other peoples were). The stone is a reference to the young Genoese Balilla, who took it in his hands and hurled it at the Austrian troops, symbolizing courage, dignity, custom, and character. The large bell symbolizes the call to arms for a just cause! (The great bell will ring like a toll) just as the keys symbolize the opening to the Free World, free from malice, ignorance, and evil paths (as cited by the marble slab behind it). The landscape on the left depicts a large tree with a she-wolf underneath, howling, calling her cubs to battle. The other half is confused, foggy, with treetops fading towards the other plane.

The hand points to the Divine ray that is dazzling her, just as when Christ pointed to Saint Matthew for a greater will, so God shows her the path to freedom.
