Description of the work
Description of the work
Social themes in art began to gain prominence in the mid-19th century, coinciding with the spread of social questions throughout European societies. The work of painters such as Millet and Daumier, for example, favored subjects related to life in the fields, factory work, or strikes. In Italy, among the first painters to engage deeply with social themes were Pellizza da Volpedo and, in the contemporary era, Renato Guttuso. Specifically, this work by Amina Redaelli is tied to the daily life of a peasant world. However, we cannot truly speak of a true social commitment on the artist's part: although it provides a very incisive depiction of the daily life of this dimension, the work remains more in the realm of genre painting, a lyrical celebration of a simplicity of life with a distinctly popular character.
Amina Redaelli's celebration of the simplicity of peasant life, imbued with essential and primary values, is directly reflected in her style through a seamless blend of realism and a vibrant, impressionistic rendering of sensory details. On the one hand, the artist precisely describes the scene in all its details, with a strong sense of rural reality and the everyday life of a simple life. On the other, her refined painting technique allows her to convey a sense of immediacy to the canvas, thanks to rapid brushstrokes charged with atmospheric vibrations. Light thus reverberates across objects, transfiguring the description of reality, which nevertheless remains precise. The entire view is characterized by a synthetic line that translates the primary and essential values of the peasant world into painting.
Amina Redaelli was born in Seregno. She attended art high school before joining the students of Maestro Vittorio Viviani, founder of the Libera Accademia di Pittura in Nova Milanese, where she became the Maestro's assistant, secretary of the Academy, and instructor of children's courses. She actively participates in exhibitions, awards, and competitions, attracting critical acclaim and achieving the highest levels of success and significant recognition. She has organized numerous solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions. Her name appears in the major publications of our time. Amina Redaelli remains a fundamental point of reference for adults and especially for the very young students of the Libera Accademia di Pittura in Nova Milanese. She currently lives and works in Desio.
