Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Andrea Sgarzi stands out for his landscape painting, in which he seeks distinctive views, imbued with a distinctive lyricism. Hence his penchant for picturesque views and evocative framing. Formally, this translates into a highly animated and dynamic style, achieved with his distinctive tempera technique, which ensures freshness and immediacy of execution. His brushstrokes are therefore characterized by a remarkably cursive touch, composed of sudden flickers that effectively capture the vibrations of light on objects.
Andrea Sgarzi, an artist from San Cesario, taught in Saronno and worked as a commercial artist, director, and theater set designer, achieving great success with his highly personal miniaturist technique on jewelry and precious metals. Solo exhibitions have been held in Milan, Varese, Como, Rho, Bologna, Rodi Garganico, Modena, Forlì, Bormio, Modica, Tradate, Vignola, Saronno, and Lugano.
