Angelo Petrucci is a Genoa-based artist born in 1954. His research focuses on the study of the human figure reproduced on large-scale canvases. Petrucci's work is a celebration of the strength and power of the human anatomy, especially the female. On large supports, it can expand to colossal proportions, in a heightened plasticity reminiscent of Michelangelo. Limbs tense in complicated positions and muscles swell with physical exertion, in a depiction that begins with naturalism but breaks away from it for a more modern and contemporary interpretation. Petrucci's style is expressionist in its use of color and bold in the modern approach of its compositions.
